In my almost 30 years of experience I have found absolutely zero connection between how much people are paying for acupuncture and how willing (or able) they are to make lifestyle changes. And furthermore, I don't think I've even seen much correlation between lifestyle changes and how well they respond, except in some extreme situations. (Are student practitioners at OCOM told not to expect much change in student clinic patients, since they are paying lower rates??)

You know what, Elaine, I'm not sure I've ever heard anybody outside of hardcore community acu people say that there's not much correlation between lifestyle and how people respond -- the message I got at OCOM was that the whole point was for people to change their lifestyles. Anyway, thank you, I love it when people say subversive things :)

Well, if the point is for people to change their lifestyles, doesn't that mean it's the practitioner's treatments that are lacking if they don't. That's the version we got - As people come in to balance they will tend to make better choices.... Which of course assumes people have the resources to choose.
